Stylographs or delineation or marking pens use the same system as fountain pens and have almost completely displaced the ruler in Chinese ink drawings. The reason is that its degree of perfection in the layout and the range of thicknesses make this instrument a more practical and efficient tool than the drawing pen.
The fountain pen is actually a plunger fountain pen, and each pen has its corresponding body and protective cap. The tip ends in a tubular cylinder with a diameter equal to the thickness of the line to be obtained. They are easily loaded with India ink in a specially designed tank. Interchangeable tips are currently used for the same body, and the protective cap has the characteristic of being hygrometric, which prevents the ink from drying out inside the tip. Despite this, if they are not cleaned regularly they end up drying out, which represents a serious problem for small-diameter pens, which can become unusable.
In the market, the most common thicknesses of pens are 0.2, 0.4 and 0.8 mm. In addition to those mentioned above, there are other standardized thicknesses in two series.
A compass adapter can be attached to the stylus that allows you to ink the circumference lines. Fountain pens are still used in architecture.
